Echo Resonance release vinyl of two of Argentina’s indie faves

By 04 May, 2011

Echo Resonance is a small record label based in Brooklyn, New York. So far they’ve released four vinyls. Best of all is the fact that two of these are by acts from Argentina; Valentin y Los Volcanes and Prietto Viaja al Cosmos con Mariano.

If you’ve followed this site for a while you’ll know that we’re big fans of Valentin y Los Volcanes. Their last album Play al Viejo Walkman was one of our favourite albums of last year, and it’s a song from that album which features as the a-side in their new release on Echo Resonance. “Piedras al Lago” is backed up by “Nunca Seré una Canción en la Radio”, a cover of a Daniel Johnston song which makes up their new 7″ single. “Piedras al Lago” is a song we love so much we’ve featured it twice on our site, first as a live video and then in it’s beautiful-imagined cartoon form, featuring a cameo from Daniel Johnston.

Prietto Viaja al Cosmos con Mariano will be releasing a 12″ on Echo Resonance featuring four tracks of indie pop and psychedelic rock from the band from Buenos Aires, including a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye”. This is a great little record.

Best of all, if you’re based in Buenos Aires, you will get the chance to see these bands play live in May as well as buy their new records. Valentin y Los Volcanes will be performing on May 13th, and Prietto Viaja al Cosmos con Mariano will be following a day later on May 14th.
