Our Latest Publication, Sounds and Colours Peru, Is Released

By 09 July, 2015

Peru is a country with an incredibly-diverse and rich personality, one that in recent years has been charged by the reawakening of its multi-ethnic identity. Afro-Peruvian, Andean and Amazonian culture is seeping its way into the mainstream and the underground. Sounds and Colours Peru is our document of everything that’s happening in Peruvian culture right now, as well as its astonishing legacy. From Afro-Peruvian dance to life-altering poetry, from street art to revolutionary cinema, from ayahuasca ceremonies to ancient Andean festivals and through every style of music imaginable (cumbia, rock, noise, folklore, electro, Afro, Yma Sumac) this is Peru as you’ve never seen (and heard) it before.

As well as being a book with 200 pages of articles, illustrations and photos, Sounds and Colours Peru is a 19-track CD full of new Peruvian music and a DVD collecting together 13 short films that show Peru’s local music scenes in intimate detail. Made with a team of collaborators from Peru, Europe, North America and beyond, it’s also one of the most revelatory and panoramic documents of Peruvian culture you’re ever likely to find.
