Bixiga 70’s Afro-Latin Mini Mix

By 26 January, 2016

Ahead of their European tour – starting off with a hotly-anticipated London debut, before heading to Scotland, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Spain and Denmark – Bixiga 70 have put together a short but sweet selection of some of their favourite tunes. It’s a varied mix, highlighting the group’s many influences, taking in cumbia, Afro-Brazilian spirituals, choro, samba as well as the afrobeat and West African grooves that are synonymous with the group.

The mix starts with Brazilian flute master Altamiro Carrilho, who is followed by Conjunto Baluartes’ ultra-rare afro-samba groove “Conflito”, before we then take a trip to Colombia and Angola with tracks by Cumbia Soledeña and Elias Diá Kimuezo respectively. The mix ends with Bixiga 70’s very-own “Mil Vidas”, which is taken from their latest album III (which was chosen as our Best Album of 2015).
