All change at Como No!

By 25 April, 2024

As you may well know, Comon No is the UK’s biggest promoter of Latin music. After almost 40 years of running the company, its Director, Andy Wood, is stepping down to become a non-executive board member. This has prompted a significant change to its organisational structure, with Elena Beltrami appointed the new Director of Como No and La Linea Festival.

Quite apart from creating this globally revered festival, Wood is also responsible for having arranged UK performances and tours for some of the genre’s biggest stars, has created landmark events and unique one-off collaborations, and is a fierce champion of up-and-coming talent. He leaves behind a legacy of innovation that has made an indelible mark on the Latin music landscape. Andy Wood has certainly made an immeasurable contribution to Latin music and culture in the UK and all at Sounds and Colours would certainly like to add their thanks and best wishes for the future.

Elena Beltrami’s predecessor believes that she is the “ideal person to kickstart the next chapter in the organisation’s journey.” Her goal is “to build on the organisation’s rich legacy while also exploring new avenues for growth and creativity. By providing a platform for emerging talent, we can showcase the vibrant diversity of voices within the Latin music scene and foster greater connections between cultures.”

As it enters its second year as a National Portfolio Organisation supported by the Arts Council of England, Como No is currently expanding its team and looking to recruit a new Operations & Reporting Manager. The full job description can be found here. Don’t be shy, gentle readers!

Upcoming London events organised by Como No in June include the New Regency Orchestra at the Scala and Marina Sena (described as the “Brazilian art-pop trailblazer”) at the Jazz Café.
