Chile’s Dilema Industria Celebrates 10th Anniversary With New Beats Compilation

By 14 February, 2013

The underground sounds of Santiago de Chile are featured in a new compilation from one of the city’s most distinctive musical sources. Dilema Industria is an online label and webzine dedicated to providing a platform for independent and experimental music in Chile, leaning heavily towards hip hop and electro, and home to the likes of Gen, Bronko Yotte, FDA, Iris, Kinética and loads more. To mark its tenth anniversary, the label has released the simply-titled “Dilema Industria 10”, which features a wide range of artists whose sounds it has promoted over the last decade.

The album offers an eclectic range of the beats that have been coming out of Santiago in recent times. It opens with the spaced out sketchiness of DLA’s “Pivotal pt. 8” and skates across musical landscapes, from the trip hop inflections of Jetyawar’s “Another Place”, to the house-hop of “Ao” by Antioch, or the dark and lazy “Down” from Imaabs. There are some very nice tunes here and this mature yet fresh album highlights the excellent level of music being made in the Chilean capital these days. And as a free download, it absolutely deserves your attention.
