Second Chapter from Discos Pacífico’s Insider Guide to Petronio + Exclusive Afro-Colombia Playlist

By 21 October, 2022

This week we are treated to not only the second episode of online series De Petronio con Verito Asprilla but also a bonus playlist made by Discos Pacífico that showcases the best of Petronio 2022.

The second edition of Discos Pacífico’s insider guide to Petronio takes us through more of the festival, where we can see the impressive selection of traditional food available on site, and the culture of gastronomy that the region is so famous for.

Featuring interviews with Nidia Góngora, the female member of Semblanzas Del Rio Guapi, and insider footage of the live event itself, the second edition of De Petronio con Verito Asprilla does not disappoint.

This week’s release also comes with a specially-curated playlist from Diego Gomez, the founder of Llorona Records and Discos Pacífico, who has this to say:

“Discos Pacífico and Llorona have signed some of the most emblematic bands in Petronio Álvarez Festival’s history. From the Latin Grammy-nominated Canalón De Timbiquí, to winners of Petronio like Semblanzas del Río Guapi and Agrupación Chango. This concise playlist represents the spectrum of artists we work with and how important Petronio Álvarez is as a platform for this music.

On the playlist you can hear Petronio “anthems” like “Quitate De Mi Escalera” by Nidia Góngora’s Canalón de Timbiquí – a track you can hear everywhere at the festival. “Atocha” from Ruca y El Quinde de Barbacoas is another must-listen, with this one accentuating the more religious aspect of the music. All in all, it’s the perfect listening guide to the diversity on offer at Petronio.”
