PREMIÈRE: La Mambanegra’s Break Salsa Anthem ‘Me Parece Perfecto’; Vinyl Pre-Order Available

By 16 February, 2017

With the international release of La Mambanegra‘s debut album El Callegüeso y su Malamaña fast approaching we are very happy to bring to you one of our favourite tracks on the album, the fast-paced break salsa (should that be ‘breakneck salsa’?) anthem “Me Parece Perfecto”.

The track, which is a homage to Colombian music legend Wilson Viveros (a member of Ondatropica no less), is an insatiable salsa in La Mambanegra’s inimitable style that gives the group plenty of room to improvise, and is notable for featuring Andrés “Chinito” Escobar on percussion.

It is one of 10 tracks that will feature on the group’s debut album, which will soon be available on vinyl, CD and digitally from Movimientos Records. La Mambanegra are one of the most-talked about Colombian bands at the moment, showing how Cali has become a hot-bed for musical fusions, taking in influence from New York hip-hop and salsa, US funk, as well as a myriad of Caribbean, Colombian and Afro-Colombian influences. You can find out more about the group, including their incredible back-story and why they call their particular brand of music ‘break salsa’, via our interview with band leader Jacobo Velez.

El Callegüeso y su Malamaña will be released on Movimientos Records on March 3rd on CD/vinyl/digital. Pre-orders can be made from la-mambanegra.bandcamp.com
