New Night in London to Celebrate North-eastern Brazil

By 01 May, 2014

We are extremely excited about this upcoming event at Rich Mix in London. Selva promises to be a festa nordestina (a north-eastern party, Brazilian style!) uniting music, dance and culture in a way that so rarely happens in London. With elements of theatre and folklore added to the mix, this promises to be an authentic slice of Brazil on our doorstep.

Here are what the promoters are saying:

An evening celebrating the music, dance and culture of the North East of Brazil. Selva is ever changing like nature’s forces and inspired by the need to raise awareness of Latin culture and environmental issues we operate like a magnetic vortex. We are recruiting people to be involved or come to our special editions of Selva! Immerse yourself in an interactive world, where folkloric characters dance and play music in the true spirit of north-eastern Brazilian carnival!

There will be Bumba-Meu-Boi, a tradition from the Brazilian Amazon that merges costumes, drumming and performance into a joyous whole, as well as live music from Forro Sincopado and Let Drum Beat, along with Movimientos and LAB DJs.

This will be a series of events, with the first one being hold on Friday 9th May at Rich Mix London. You can find out more info at richmix.org.uk/whats-on/event/selva-presents-festa-nordestina
