DJ Rhettmatic’s Ritmo Machine Mixtape
19 February, 2013On 2011’s Welcome To The Ritmo Machine, Chilean DJ/turntablist Latin Bitman teamed up with Cypress Hill/Beastie Boys collaborator Eric Bobo (naming themselves Ritmo Machine) for an album fusing breakbeats and hip-hop with Latin rhythms. Just listen to album highlight “Brazil” for an idea of what we’re talking about.
Now, DJ Rhettmatic (from the World Famous Beat Junkies, to give them their official title) has got his hands on the album and taken it even further into the world of turntable culture, chopping those original rhythms into a tapestry of unexpected turns and schizo beats.
