Celebrating 5 Years of Man Recordings

By 05 September, 2010

Berlin-based dance label Man Recordings will be celebrating their 5th anniversary by releasing a compilation of some of the best hits from their catalogue. Named Valeu!, it will feature cuts featuring Edu K, Isa GT, MC Gringo and Joao Brasil.

In their short lifespan Man Recordings have become a haven for some of the craziest beats to come from Brazil, with series of records on Baile Funk, as well as documenting Sao Paulo’s No Wave scene in their Não Wave compilations. Yet their net spreads far wider than Brazil, simply highlighting some of the best club-centred grooves happening around the globe, and this can be reflected in their recent releases from Colombian Isa GT, one of the hottest DJs around at the moment with her fresh mix of electro-cumbia.

The compilation has been titled Valeu being the Portugese for ‘Cool’/’Big Up’ and also an expression of ‘Thanks’.

Here is what Man Recordings have to say about the compilation:

From Oliver $’s gentle opening track, to the brute force of a Bert On Beats bass assault; this collection of tracks presents all angles and avenues both of the Man Recordings back catalogue, and indeed of it’s future.

With contributions from long standing cohorts such as Edu K and Ku Bo, fresh faces like Isa GT and Schlachthofbronx, as well as return appearances from Funk Mundial conspirators; Crookers and Seiji – and of course a track from Daniel Haaksman himself – Valeu is a 2010 update of the Man Recs sound.

Strap yourself in.

Valeu is out now on CD exclusively via Japanese label Hydra Records.
It is released digitally on Monday September 6th worldwide.
