First Artists Announced for La Linea 20

By | 27 November, 2019

2019 has not yet finished and already 2020 is looking pretty special, as the first announcement for next year’s La Linea festival has been announced. La Linea is one of the highlights of every year for us, it’s London’s only festival dedicated to Latin music, and this one is looking very interesting.

Celebrating their 20th anniversary, La Linea 20 will be taking place across London venues from April 15th to May 4th, and has one of the most varied line-ups yet. We’re already very excited to see Juana Molina make an appearance at Camden’s Jazz Cafe (will she be getting into the unexpected punk vibes of her last EP?) on the opening night, April 15th. Fellow Argentine Melingo will also be playing the Jazz Cafe the following Wednesday, April 22nd, and to cap off what looks like an especially tempting festival for all lovers of Argentine culture, there will be a night enthrall to “El Pibe de Oro” with Javier Weyler and his band playing a live version of music from the brand new Netflix series Maradona in Mexico.

Mexicos’ Tino Contreras will be ticking the psychedelic jazz boxes with a performance of his seminal 1978 Quinto Sol album Musica Infinita album on Monday April 27th at EartH, and then there will be more sensual, soothing sounds with Lina_ Raül Refree and Sara Correia, both representing the sounds of fado.

A final few words must go to Brazil’s Bebel Gilberto who will be playing the Royal Festival Hall on Monday May 4th, with support from another Argentine connection, and one of our favourites, Fémina, as well as the Lola MC Showcase, a night to revel in the sounds of Latin London at Rich Mix on Friday April 24th.

The full programme for La Linea will be announced soon. Tickets are on sale now and available from www.lalineafestival.com
