Rumba Tropical in aid of Children of the Andes

By 07 October, 2014

The UK’s biggest charity working exclusively in Colombia, Children of the Andes, is having a party in aid of a very worthy cause featuring some of London’s best salsa and cumbia stars.

Rumba Tropical will see Cali-born Johnny Freyre perform alongside The Kalima Project, an emerging group of musicians reviving classic tropical sounds for new generations. The evening at Floripa will begin with a 45 minute salsa class at 7:30pm by Cali Swing UK, the largest Colombian Salsa dance school in the UK and the night will also include a live salsa performance by professional salsa dancing group Cali Viva.

COTA hopes the event will raise enough funds to pay for twelve months of educational activities, occupational therapy workshops and special educational materials for 60 vulnerable children with disabilities, helping them to develop the skills and receive the support they need to go to school as well as to become an active part of their community.

Tickets are £9 in advance or £12 on the door and delicious Brazilian food and a raffle will also be available.
