Waxist Selecta – Brasil Spin Mixtape

By 06 May, 2011

Great new mixtape today from Waxist Selecta, a collector of rare grooves from Paris. On Brasil Spin he chooses a selection of classic Brazilian samba, bossa nova and funk from his impressive vinyl collection.

This is a collection with something of a French spin on Brazilian classics from Tim Maia, Cassiano, Fafá de Belém (her cover of “Naturalmente” is incredible!) and Jorge Ben as well as a great cover of Luiz Gonzaga’s “Baião” and a few Francofied samba numbers, including a French version of “Mas Que Nada.” So, you get the cool of French chic, as well as the rhythm of Brazil, sounds alright doesn’t it?

Waxist Selecta specialises in rare grooves with a collection including Jazz, Jazz Funk, Jamaican Beats, Disco, Brazil & Latin Music, Euro & French Grooves, Afro & Caribbean Grooves and lots more. You can hear some more of his mixes at soundcloud.com/waxist-selecta.
