Download B.Réu’s ‘Maracatu Dirty’, First Single off ‘Kafundó Vol. 3; Electronic Roots from N/E Brazil’

By 27 January, 2016

Kafundó Records are back with a new selection of bass and electronic music from Brazil, following on from Volume 1: Digital Roots Music From Brazil and Volume 2: Roots and Bass Music from Brazil, both of which earned much-deserved strong reviews here on Sounds and Colours.

The third volume is called Kafundó Vol. 3; Electronic Roots from N/E Brazil and is the first one to focus on a particular region of Brazil, collecting together artists from the North and North-East of Brazil, where there is a stronger Afro-Brazilian heritage, kinship with the Caribbean and completely different rhythms to the south of Brazil. Kafundó Records label the music contained on the album as “a transnational stew where coco meets dancehall, forró meets dubstep, and brega meets moombahton. Carimbó with wobble bass, glitched out dub coco, Bahian hip-hop ragga, moombahton samba to maracatu samba dub hip-hop and frenetic punked-out frevotron.”

Below is the first single from the album. Called “Maracatu Dirty”, the track is a melange of samba, hip-hop, maracatu and dub from the young Belo Horizonte rapper B.Réu. Just click Download to get the track for free.

Kafundó Vol. 3; Electronic Roots from N/E Brazil is available from and other digital platforms.
