On our Radar: Daniel Haaksman feat Coco Maria, Dengue Dengue Dengue & Ori Kaplan, & Ximena Sariñana

By 21 January, 2019

We’ve got new pop goodness  out of Mexico by way of Ximena Sariñana and a dreamy downtempo cumbia from Berlin via Daniel Haaksman.

GERMANY:  ‘La Añoranza’ by Daniel Haaksman feat Dengue Dengue Dengue, Ori Kaplan & Coco Maria

“La Añoranza,” is the lead single off Daniel Haaksman‘s forthcoming album With Love, From Berlin, which is set for release on the 25th of January.

For the song, Daniel secured the support of the Peruvian psychedelic cumbia/electro duo Dengue Dengue Dengue, Ori Kaplan of Balkan Beat Box on flute, and Mexican DJ and singer, Coco Maria.

The video was shot throughout Berlin in what seems like a sunny spring, and it’s no wonder as añoranza means “longing” and the song is about longing for those beautiful days in Berlin.

Mexico City: ‘Lo Bailado’ by Ximena Sariñana

Ximena Sariñana‘s “Lo Bailado” is a preview of her forthcoming album, expected for release in March, following the breakthrough success of last year’s tropi-pop single “Que Tiene,” which now has more than 20 million total streams.

“Lo Bailado” trades in a philosophy of letting the worst of life roll off your shoulders. Derived from the saying, “lo bailado nadie te lo quita,” the song celebrates what is gained even in loss.

“It means whatever you danced nobody’s going to take that away from you. It doesn’t matter if the outcome is good or bad, what’s important is that what you experienced is yours. If you have a really bad breakup you’re like okay well at least I had fun,” Sariñana said.
