By 13 September, 2011

Wikiexplora, the encyclopedia for outdoors activities in South America, voted Torres Del Paine as the best of the lot.

Second place went to the Inca Trail in Peru. Argentine Patagonia, Fitz Roy and Cerro Torres also got mentions. Here’s how the guide described Torres del Paine:

“Four days of touring mountains, glaciers, lakes and petrified woods where the wind and clouds dominating the whole scenario, that is the idyllic landscape which trekking in Torres del Paine National park offers.”

In a seperate poll Hotel Salto Chico, based in Torres del Paine featured in Condé Nast Traveller’s list of the best hundred hotels in the world, based on service and exotic passion to travel. The hotel is the only one in Chile to reach the top 100.

Hotel Salto Chico was designed as the starting point base for foot and riding explorations in Torres del Paine, organised every day of the year and offering travellers the opportunity to choose the degree of challenge and conditions they wish to experience.

We recently featured Torres Del Paine in our article: A Wild But Fragile Chile.
