Downtempo Beats from Chile’s Poki Tatane

By 21 September, 2012

We’d been meaning to post this for some time. Poki Tatane is the project of Patricio Castillo, based in Puente Alto, Chile. His debut EP Breve Explicación De Las Partes is a delicately-arranged work of electronic clicks, swirls and beats.

The release brings to mind IDM masters such as Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin, as well as the more beat-orientated approach of DJ Shadow, with a dark balladic sound that even contains a shade of Italo-Disco. The result is completely intoxicating and well worth a listen.
