Young Ragga

Young Ragga’s “Musiquilla”

By 28 September, 2012

Roots and dancehall from Puerto Rico? Oh yes, and it comes courtesy of Young Ragga, a new artist representing la isla del encanto’s capital city San Juan. Recorded at the SPIK Records compound in the cultural hot spot of Santurce, “Ragga Muffin Style” is Ragga’s first collaboration with producer DJ Nature.

According to our dancehall expert friends at Large Up, the album is “a refreshing return to the ’80s rub-a-dub era, infused with the lyrical flows and techniques of the present.”

The Spanish-language reggae album certainly showcases Ragga’s unique style and flow as he confidently rides seven riddims produced in Nature’s vintage rub-a-dub style.

Grab yourself a Red Stripe beer (or, better yet, a Medalla Light of Puerto Rico) and stream/download “Ragga Muffin Style” here.
